I decided to use this shot mainly due to the fact that it
gives you an indication of the ‘auteur’ style for this film. I think that this
shot has definitely been exaggerated and it is presented with a close up shot
to emphasise this.
Some people may find this uncomfortable to watch and that is what the ‘auteur’ has probably tried to achieve with his mise-en-scene. The ‘gore’ is quite explicit but also slightly un-realistic; the shot is also presented in low-key lighting which also creates tension.
