Year: 2009
Type of
horror: Horror
Location: USAMain Image: The main image within this poster is what looks like the killer for this film; the position he is standing in has some power to it as it looks as though he is looking down at you. He is seen as a threat mainly because he has his weapon of choice in his right hand and he is wearing a mask to hide his identity.
The setting is dark with tall trees in the background; there is a little gap of light behind the killer which gives you a small sense of hope.
Colours: The whole picture is a mix of dark blue, grey and black colours which gives it a dark feel. The title and the date for the film is the only bright colour on the whole poster. Red has been used as it often relates to danger so it fits in with the films structure. The writing at the bottom of the page is in white so that it stands out on the dark background.
Fonts: The title is really eye-catching as the font and colour used both contrast well and relate to the film; ‘Friday’ and ‘13’ are presented in a larger font as most people know that this day and date are usually perceived as unlucky. All of the other pieces of text have a simple font that makes it easier to read.
Tag / Selling Line: ‘Welcome to crystal lake’ has been used to almost inform everyone that this location is dark and unwelcome. ‘From the producers of the Texas chainsaw massacre’ has also been used to bring the audience from that film so they will think that this film is also going to be good.
Target Audience: The target audience for this film would be mostly male but also people who enjoyed The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. In terms of an age group I would say the majority of people would be somewhere between the ages of 18-35.
